Ironhouse to Host Protect Your Plumbing Workshop

Ironhouse to Host Protect Your Plumbing Workshop

Ironhouse Sanitary District announced an upcoming Protect Your Pipes workshop aimed at educating the community on the best ways to preserve their home plumbing with tips from in-house experts.

  • WHEN: Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.
  • WHERE: City of Oakley City Hall (3231 Main St. Oakley, CA 94561)

The workshop is free to the public, and Ironhouse encourages everyone to attend.

The Protect Your Pipes workshop will inform the community about the proper way to dispose of Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) and personal hygiene products, as many people unknowingly dump them down the drain which causes internal plumbing issues and damages the sewer system.

The workshop will highlight various topics for attendees including how to prevent blockages in their pipes while protecting them long-term, how to eliminate obstructions in pipes when they occur, and some general tips that will help avoid costly repair bills. Educating the community will help to cut down on unnecessary District spending and man hours to clear the sewer system of blockages.

June 30 – Ironhouse Recycled Water Facilities Reopen For the Summer

Ironhouse Sanitary District is reopening its Residential Recycled Water Fill Station to the community beginning July 1, 2024. Customers can take advantage of free recycled water available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through October 31, 2024.

Since its closure in May 2023, the station has undergone several upgrades and improvements including pressurizing and increasing the pipe size to 8” in diameter for better water flows, as well as adding signage and making the station more user-friendly. These upgrades allow Ironhouse to continue offering high-quality recycled water for outdoor watering needs while preserving drinking water and saving its customers money.

Before taking home recycled water, customers must complete a sign-up process that includes filling out a Resident Recycled Water Fill Station Agreement form and attending a brief 15-minute training. Additionally, customers located outside the service area can pay a $35 annual fee to gain access to Ironhouse’s recycled water. Ironhouse produces 2.6 million gallons of water daily, using a modern filtration and ultra-violet light process that uses zero chemicals. This high-quality treated water preserves the region’s water supply.

The Residential Recycled Water Fill station is located near Ironhouse’s headquarters in Oakley at 450 Walnut Meadows Drive.
