TEA, SD (KELO)–A South Dakota couple is helping put Sioux Falls in the national spotlight with their own show on HGTV.
Now the stars of Down Home Fab have opened their own storefront in Tea. The destination the new store is already becoming in tonight’s Your Money Matters.
“I always say that our style is very South Dakota chic or South Dakota glam,” Chelsea DeBoer said.
It’s the unique local style Chelsea and Cole DeBoer showcase on their HGTV series Down Home Fab every week.
“I watch HGTV nonstop pretty much and it’s so great having locals for everyone to see how we live around here,” Down Home shopper Sue Versteeg said.
Now everyone can find their own South Dakota-chic pieces at the DeBoer’s new storefront.
“I think in about every episode there’s a cow hide and we have plenty of cow hides. So yes there are things from the show in here,” Cole DeBoer said.
“The cow hides are popping off. I always say we’re like the cowhide capital of this area. So they have been very popular,” Chelsea said.
“I love their style and we’re ranchers and have cows in southwest Minnesota. So I have been anxious to shop here since they opened,” Versteeg said.
In just their first few weeks open, shoppers like Sue Versteeg are coming out in droves to visit the Down Home store along this growing commercial district near the Tea exit.
“We thought about being in Sioux Falls, but Tea is growing so quickly and we found this new spot out here in Tea that is right up the Interstate. We thought it was just an easy place to just pop right in off the interstate. So we went with it,” Cole said.
“Right away I walked in and said, wow, I love it!,” Versteeg said.
“There are people coming from all over and it’s just been really exciting to see people come in and they’re excited and everyone’s just so sweet,” Chelsea said.
From large furniture, to lighting, rugs and smaller home decor finds, Down Home offers some unique items the DeBoers have hand picked for their store.
“We just want it to be different than everything else in Sioux Falls,” Cole said. “It’s just kind of our vibe and we hope people like it.”
The new store just another way the DeBoers are using their unique style to put the spotlight on their home state.
“Sioux Falls is so great and South Dakota in general is so great. I, I feel so lucky that we’re able to show, you know, nationally how great it is here. It’s such a amazing place to live and raise a family, start a business. It really is a great area. And so I’m just glad that we get to show that,” Chelsea siad.
The Down Home store in Tea is open seven days a week, where you’ll often be able to find Chelsea and Cole rearranging the store. Right now it’s a spot to come and shop for home decor, but the DeBoers hope to also add a Down Home design service in the future.
