TULSA COUNTY, Okla. — Local company Half Moon Plumbing is featuring different couples from all over Green Country on their billboards for Valentine’s Day.

Dewayne and Dee Dee Conley have known each other since they were kids, but ending up together was a shock for both of them.

They were just friends when they were kids. In middle school, Dee Dee fell in love with her first husband and never looked back.

“We were in a wedding together when we were four. Together all through middle school and high school. Got married a year later, married for 26 years and have three kids,” Dee Dee said.

But her first husband died of a heart attack after 26 years of marriage and Dee Dee had to navigate a new reality. Three years ago, Dewayne invited her to see his band perform and she stood him up.

“Then a few days later he messaged said ‘Hey would you like to go get dinner?’ I froze and didn’t know what to do,” Dee Dee said.

But Dewayne did not lose hope.

“She finally said yes after a few hours. Twenty-six hours to be exact, not that I was counting. We went and had dinner and been together ever since,” Dewayne said.

Dee Dee saw Half Moon Plumbing’s ad for the Valentine’s billboard and thought it would be fun to apply. Now anyone driving by can see their Valentine’s wishes.

“It was very meaningful and totally out of her character to do something like that i’m the one that does stuff like that,” Dewayne said.

Dustin Mitchell, the owner of Half Moon Plumbing, said his wife gave him the idea for the Valentine’s billboards.

“The winners highlight different types of relationships. We have some lovebirds, mother and daughter, father and son and even some people with their pets,” Mitchell said.

That’s how Katelyn Field found her Valentine’s wishes to her 7-year-old son Tommy on display.

“He is so kind and smart. He’s funny, he’s the truest definition of a friend that anyone can have. His smile has never dimmed and the sunlight he brings out those around him is absolutely incredible,” Field said.

She hopes featuring Tommy on the billboard will make him smile.

“I want him to understand how beautiful this world is with him inside of it,” Field said.

You can see a rotation of different couples and Valentine’s wishes on billboards all over Green Country through Valentine’s weekend.
