A longtime home decor store in Wilmington will close its doors for good in February.
And while frequent customers will miss New River Pottery, there are other local businesses offering similar items and more.
The Wilmington-area is filled with local artists, furniture stores and nick-knack enthusiasts. There are several chain stores that cater to home decor, such as Pottery Barn at Mayfaire and Hobby Lobby with locations in Wilmington and Southport, but some people prefer to shop local.

Uptown Market was established in 2003 and is located in Porters Neck. The store offers uncommon goods, beach home decor, urban home designs and unique furniture pieces for shoppers.
Brunswick County
Barn & Beach Designs
Location: 4874 Old Long Beach Road SE, Southport
The store’s 10,000 square-foot building features over 70 local artists and vendors with hand crafted furniture, jewelry and pottery. The location also has a coffee shop, bookstore, community garden and meeting space.
Cape Fear Home Furnishings & Consignments

Cape Fear Furniture Center has a showroom and design center for people to find or customize furniture. Store inventory is filled with upholstered furniture, lamps and more.
