When Yvonne and Tony Glassman purchased Affordable Flooring Warehouse in October, they aimed to create a new flooring experience in Steamboat Springs.
“One of the things that we’ve been doing is just trying to elevate the flooring experience for people,” Yvonne said last week. “Bringing all of the things that (Tony) knows from the construction world into the flooring industry, so that we can make it a better process.”
The couple purchased Affordable Flooring, located at 2620 S. Copper Frontage, from Chris Edwards, who owned and operated the company for three-and-a-half years.
Tony, who had been working for a prominent high-end construction company in the Vail Valley, believes he can enhance the customer experience by implementing new technology and hiring additional installers.
The couple said his work in construction gives him the knowledge and skills necessary to guide customers through their flooring projects while ensuring that each installation meets the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Yvonne also brings her own entrepreneur experience to Affordable Flooring. She owned and operated Yoga Off Broadway in Eagle for over 15 years and owns Stay@OM, a virtual yoga studio that offers a variety of online classes for all levels, abilities and schedules
“I’m a serial entrepreneur,” Yvonne said. “This is the third company I own. I also own a (couple of yoga) businesses, so hospitality and customer service are kind of my thing.”
Yvonne said the couple loves Steamboat Springs and what the community offers. They own a condominium in town and currently commute between the Vail Valley and Steamboat Springs. They hope to move here in the future.
“(Steamboat) is just such a nice community, so we will probably be there full time very soon. We’ve just got a couple kiddos that we got to get through the door at the high school,” Yvonne said. “Tony is there all the time, and then we’ve got our sales team, our manager and our project manager there in Steamboat, as well. We love Steamboat.”
She said Affordable Flooring will continue to offer carpet, hardwood, laminate, tile, luxury vinyl planks, area rugs, flooring supplies and Schluter waterproofing shower kits and electric floor warming systems. Affordable Flooring also offers cabinets.
Affordable Flooring offers free measurements and free project estimates, and thanks to the huge warehouse is able to order in bulk so customers get the best pricing.
This spring the Glassmans plan to add a high-end flooring store in the warehouse where designers can bring clients to look at flooring.
Yvonne is excited to meet the Steamboat Springs community from 5-7 p.m. May 21 when Affordable Flooring hosts the Steamboat Springs Chamber’s mixer. The new owners will also partner with the Routt County Humane Society for an upcoming pet adoption event at the warehouse that will also bring attention to Affordable Flooring’s line of carpet and luxury vinyl flooring that is specific for pets.
“We carry the same variety of products and offer the same competitive pricing that they’ve always had here, but our goal is to provide more of an elevated and luxury experience,” Yvonne said. “We also want to offer a high level of customer service.”
