THROUGH APRIL 7TH. WELL, COLD WEATHER CAN LEAD TO YOU SPENDING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IF YOU’RE NOT PREPARED. OUR WVTM 13 S BRYCE OSELEN SPOKE WITH PLUMBING AND REMODELING EXPERTS ON WHY YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR PIPES AND WATER FLOW IN YOUR HOUSE. COLDER TEMPERATURES CAN CAUSE PIPES TO BURST IN YOUR HOME. LOCAL PLUMBERS RECOMMEND BEING PROACTIVE TO PREVENT DAMAGE WHEN THEY BUST THE WATER. JUST KEEPS SPRAYING AND SPRAYING AND SPRAYING, AND IT COULD CAUSE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DAMAGE IN YOUR HOUSE. PLUMBER PATRICK SULLIVAN SAYS HE’S SEEN IT ALL IN HIS 20 YEARS OF PLUMBING. THE YEAR BEFORE, WE HAD A LADY WHO HAD A PIPE. SHE WAS ACTUALLY OUT OF TOWN AND DIDN’T REALIZE IT WAS GOING FREEZING. AND THE PIPE ACTUALLY BUSTED BETWEEN THE FLOORS. SHE HAD A TWO STORY HOUSE PIPE BUSTED AND FLOODED HER WHOLE ENTIRE KITCHEN, LIVING ROOM, DINING ROOM AND EVERYTHING. WATER FLOWING THROUGH THE PIPES IN YOUR HOME OR OFFICE NEEDS TO MOVE, AND IF IT GETS OUT OF THE PIPES, IT DOESN’T MIND RUINING YOUR SPACE TO DO SO. ANY KIND OF WATER THAT’S SITTING DORMANT AND IT’S BELOW FREEZING, IT’S GOING TO FREEZE. AND OF COURSE, WHEN WATER FREEZES, IT EXPANDS AND PIPE SIZES ARE ALREADY FILLED UP WITH WATER. SO WHEN THE WHEN THE WATER FREEZES AND EXPANDS, THAT WATER HAS NOWHERE TO GO OTHER THAN BUSTING OUT OF THE PIPE. SULLIVAN SAYS RUNNING WATER AND COVERING FAUCETS WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. ONE THING THAT YOU CAN DO IS MAKE SURE YOUR OUTSIDE FAUCETS ARE JUST WRAPPED UP REALLY WELL. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE PIPE COVERS ON THE PIPES THAT ARE EXPOSED OUTSIDE. AND YOU KNOW, DURING THE NIGHTS THAT IT’S REALLY, REALLY LOW. JUST MAKE SURE YOU’RE DRIPPING SOME FAUCE
