Mark your calendars now and plan to attend this yearâs highly acclaimed Colorado Springs Garden Tour.
By popular demand, this yearâs tour returns to the Patty Jewett neighborhood (last toured in 2017) and includes the nearby Bonnyville neighborhood. Both have easy proximity to downtown Colorado Springs. In fact, most of the garden tour can be walked or biked â a favorite feature of past tours.
The six gardens on the tour this year are guaranteed to inspire all who attend.
Visit an artistically infused garden, find solace in the sanctuary garden or learn how to attract pollinators to your garden. Pet lovers will see how to adapt their own gardens if they, too, believe that âdogs rule.â
Another garden demonstrates how salvaged materials can be repurposed to add character and incorporate local history into a landscape. And if forces of nature have destroyed your ancient trees, one of the gardens shows how to transition from a shade garden to a sunny one.
As in the past, Colorado Master Gardeners will be available at each of the gardens to answer questions about plants and good gardening practices, while local Plein Air Garden Artists will be painting various aspects of the gardens.
Attendees will want to wear comfortable shoes, a sun hat and sunscreen, and bring water and a camera. FOX will provide you with a printed garden tour guide to record the plants and ideas that you want to remember. Please be aware that private gardens might not be able to accommodate strollers, walkers or wheelchairs due to narrow pathways and steps. Also, no bicycles will be allowed in private gardens. Only working service dogs are permitted.
Every year, the Colorado Springs Garden Tour receives accolades from attendees and garden owners alike. Since its inception in 2011, this popular, annual tour has showcased gardens throughout the city in neighborhoods such as Divine Redeemer, Middle Shooks Run, the West Side, the Old North End, Patty Jewett, University Park, Village 7, Old Farm, Mountain Shadows, Rockrimmon and the Broadmoor area.
Tour tickets are $25 for adults; children younger than 13 are free. Tickets are valid for both days of the tour and are available at local garden centers (cash or check only) and on eventbrite.com (search Colorado Springs garden tour).
