Wine drinkers and gardeners, get ready to rejoice because your two favorite things are coming together in a surprising way. An Instagram influencer recently shared a gardening hack that repurposes old wine corks, and it’s solving two problems at once that we didn’t even know we had.

Instagram user @sustainablyamber, an influencer who focuses on sustainability and upcycling, came up with the idea to cut up old wine corks and repurpose them as feet for planters. “Repurposing wine corks as plant feet! Have you tried this easy hack before,” she shared on Instagram last month alongside a video demonstration. “If you garden with pots it’s usually best to elevate your pots a bit off the ground. This helps with drainage and preventing water stains! I find wine corks are ideal for this. You can easily cut them to any size, and they can take a lot of weight. Plus cork is fully compostable at the end of its life. So step the pricey plant feet and repurpose your corks to save some money in the garden. Happy gardening and repurposing to all!”

Fans were ecstatic to find a useful way to repurpose old wine corks, and took to Instagram to share their appreciation of this idea.

“FINALLY THE MOMENT COMES! ***runs to giant jar overfloweth with corks*** it is time. thanks for sharing,” wrote one user, while another added, “Of all my cork reuses, I hadn’t thought of this one.”

Certainly this gardening hack ticks several satisfying boxes between the compostable wine corks, the drainage possibilities for your flower pots, and even the simplicity of literally putting a cork in it.

Gardening hacks are becoming more and more popular, and it’s a space where even celebrities like David Beckham are jumping on board. The soccer icon has started to share videos of his own little garden at home, and even offered up his secret for removing plants from plastic housing; tapping on the sides before lifting them out.

The truth of it is, creating beautiful garden encourages us to get outside and live a healthier lifestyle but it can still be tough to manage. Anything that makes this process easier is a big win in our books.

Especially if a gardening hack crosses over with our love of a nice glass of wine to enjoy in said garden. We have no notes here, this is perfection.
