New coffee and home decor store, Gathered and Grown, opens in South Lake Tahoe | South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – What do you get when you combine crafted coffee, home decor, and a refreshing atmosphere? Gathered and Grown, of course. The new curated home goods store and coffee bar is now open in the Tahoe Keys Village and will be celebrating its opening on Saturday, August 31 with a special event.

Founded by mother and daughter, Rachel Langtry and Madison Hicks, Gathered and Grown offers an intimate setting to browse, shop, drink coffee and relax. There is also an outside patio to sit down and enjoy

Rachel moved to South Lake Tahoe from Anchorage, Alaska in 2020. She and her husband were empty nesters and he is from Reno, so knows Tahoe well as his grandmother had a lakefront cabin when he was growing up. They also wanted to be closer to family rather than being up in the 49th state. The couple started their Lake Tahoe househunt and found a condo in the Tahoe Keys to settle into. He works for Tesla and is on the road often, and she was a COO of a credit union and still did work up in Alaska.

It was during one of their walks through the neighborhood when they walked through the Tahoe Keys Village and they saw the vacant storefront. Rachel says the idea hatched and everything then fell into place. Madison was a barista through college and her mom talked into moving to South Lake Tahoe to open Gathered and Grown.

The store is stocked with a variety of home decor items ranging from handmade ceramics to snuggly throws, all carefully curated by the mother and daughter to add character to your space. Coffee is sourced from local roasters with sustainability and community in mind, and the drink menu features all the classic favorites as well as some specialty drinks that bring the satisfaction of the season.

“We wanted to create a relaxing space where people can enjoy with no rush, anti-hustle and bustle,” said Rachel. “It’s a nice place to slow down, gather, and relax.”

With an open space for the coffee making, customers can view the process and talk about coffee.

“We wanted to create a space with a sense of community,” said Rachel.

While in the banking business, Rachel worked creating branches with new designs and is observant of how people used spaces. Gathered and Grown shows the respect for space and gives the feeling of being non-chaotic.

To celebrate opening, Gathered and Grown will have a grand opening on Saturday, August 31 from noon to 4 p.m.. Join them for surprise discounts, snacks, drinks, music, photo opportunities and good ol’ community fun! Annavi Jewelry will also be there with their permanent jewelry services.

They are located in the Tahoe Keys Village, Suite A2 adjacent to the Tahoe Keys Resort office. After the weekend their normal hours will be Wednesday-Monday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
