As a self-described “mom who loves to decorate,” Marilyn (@mmarilyn__442) likes to find new ways to upgrade her home.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that her methods have to break the bank.

In a TikTok video, she showed how she created a simple home decor addition using Dollar Tree items.

She called it a “Dollar Tree home decor DIY you will immediately want to try.”

Marilyn ventured into her local discount store and picked up two plastic bowls.

One was a small clear bowl, while the other was a Clear Plastic Fluted Serving Bowl, $1.25, which only came up to about $2.50 total.

For the DIY project, she flipped the clear round bowl over and hot glued it around the bottom.

She placed the fluted bowl with the ridges on top of it and held it down so it firmly stuck to the other.

The only costly addition was the Rust-oleum Multi-color Textured Spray Paint, $9.95 on Amazon.

The interior design fan had a useful hack to make sure the paint didn’t get all over the floor.

She placed it in a box before she covered it in the permanent solution.

“Spray painting inside the box is brilliant ma’am!” a viewer commented.

I transformed my living room using Amazon buys – it looks more sophisticated, I do not like DIY but it was super easy

Once it was completely covered in the sandy beige paint, they placed a thick black beaded necklace that hung off the side.

In the end, she probably spent less than $15 total to create the art piece.

It looked more expensive than it was worth and buying a similar glass item from Home Goods or even Amazon could cost double what she paid.

People were ready to “run not walk” to Dollar Tree.
